Charter for the Arts

In responding to Labour’s suggested new Charter for the Arts plans, we are delighted in their pledge to invest £175 million a year in an arts pupil premium to give every primary school student in the country access to creative and cultural experiences

For once, Primary children are being recognised as wanting and needing their own arts provision which has been so sadly neglected in recent years. This links wonderfully with our suggestion of an Arts Backpack for every primary school child, which will help to deliver the creative and cultural experiences we believe they have the right to and will benefit from

We aim to pilot the Arts Backpack idea next year and discuss our findings with whoever is in government. Meanwhile, we greatly applaud this initiative from Labour.
